Family. That is what The Annexe Project means to me. My elder sister had introduced this place to me and since then, I have attended classes with The Annexe Project throughout my Secondary and Junior College school days.
Every tutor and staff member here treats you like family. The environment is very homely and inviting as there is always food in the pantry, and drinks in the fridge for students to snack on in between lessons. Occasionally, the tutors also reward students with delicious treats as a reward for our hard work.
I fondly reminisce the times I had lessons at Annexe because there was no such thing as a tiresome lesson. Every lesson I had there was extremely enjoyable. Amidst all the fun, tutors also push us to better ourselves, continually ensuring that we improve progressively throughout the lessons. Plus, my classmates made the learning experience even greater as we would often help one another with difficult questions. It is safe to say that Annexe has the formula for a perfect learning environment.
Alvin’s teaching methods were integral in helping me achieve good results. Alvin’s patience with every student is truly commendable. If I am unsure about a concept, Alvin will explain the answer to me very clearly and only move ahead with the lesson if he is convinced that I am familiar with every detail of the Math sum. He is also very well-organised and illustrates clear diagrams in his extensive list of notes that let us fully understand how to solve a wide range of questions.
As a sincere tutor, Alvin prioritises his students which makes us feel assured and safe under his tutelage. I am also thankful for his constant support in other areas of my life. He not only motivates me to improve my grades during lessons, but also to improve myself. Alvin allocates times of the week to spend with his students. Sometimes, we even visit the gym together after a long day of studying at the centre.
When I first attended his lesson in Secondary 2, I could barely achieve an E8 in Additional Mathematics. I had a promotional exam in school which would decide if I was capable of taking A-Math for my O-levels. With just one week of intensive lessons with Alvin, I managed to get an A1 for it! It was unbelievable and gave me an immediate boost of confidence in Math. Over the years, Alvin continued to push me to greater heights.
Alvin’s expertise is that he understands that each student has a different learning speed and adjusts his lessons accordingly. That is the mark of a good tutor. Eventually,with hard work, due diligence and constant support from Alvin, I scored A1s for both my E.Math and A.Math in the O Levels and A for H2 Mathematics in the A Levels! Thank you Alvin!
