Won Jer Maine, Serangoon Junior College

The Annexe Project is not just a tuition centre, but a second home to many of us.

I was constantly failing H2 Mathematics in my first year of Junior College as my foundational knowledge of Math was weak. Because I was struggling with it, I didn’t practice much Math either. Having failed the subject numerous times, I was slowly losing confidence in myself and I was beginning to accept that I would never do well at Math. My classmates introduced Alvin to me in my second year at Junior College and I am really thankful that they did because joining Annexe was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Alvin was very patient and approachable, right from the start. He helped me identify my academic weaknesses and always simplified complex explanations. Alvin matched his pace of teaching to my learning speed, which helped a lot. He took his time to explain difficult concepts and they became much easier to grasp. After-class consultations with Alvin also helped remarkably.

Under the ASTRO programme, we completed weekly exam papers under timed conditions. This was very useful leading up to the A-levels as it gave me the practice and momentum I needed for a 3-hour Math paper. With Alvin’s help and constant motivation, I improved tremendously and managed to jump 4 grades within 9 months for A-levels! I am extremely thankful to Alvin and appreciate his dedication to help his students improve and excel. Annexe also strikes the perfect balance between work and play, as students always look forward to Annexe’s fabulous and fun parties during special festivals. The students, tutors and staff get to unwind and relax for all the hard work we have put in. In fact, even ex-students attend these annual parties to relive the memories they have experienced at this amazing place. Annexe is truly a great place for individuals to grow and maximise their potential!
