O-Level Maths Formula Sheet

This page lists every formula printed in the O-Level Elementary Mathematics (4052) and Additional Mathematics (4049) exam papers, followed by the formulas that are not given and must be memorised. Compiled by Mr Alvin Yeo, founder of The Annexe Project, from the current Singapore-Cambridge syllabuses. Bookmark it for revision; the worked past-paper solutions on this site show each formula in use.

H2 Math (9758)

A-Level candidates receive the MF26 list of formulae and statistical tables in the exam. It covers the pure-maths and statistics results a JC student is expected to apply, not memorise — our H2 Math tuition class trains students to recognise when each MF26 result is the shortcut the question is testing.

How to use this sheet

  1. Separate “given” from “memorise”. Students lose marks by re-deriving formulas that are printed in the paper and by forgetting ones that are not.
  2. Practise with real papers. Every formula above appears in the free model solutions on this site, worked in the exact format the marking scheme rewards.
  3. Time it. In the last month, do one past paper a week under exam timing (2 h 15 min per paper for E-Math and A-Math).

Common questions

Is the E-Math formula sheet given in the O-Level exam?

Yes. The formulas in the first table above (compound interest, mensuration, sine and cosine rules, area of a triangle, mean and standard deviation) are printed on page 2 of every 4052 paper. Everything in the second list is not given and must be memorised.

Is there a formula sheet for A-Math?

Yes. The 4049 paper prints the quadratic formula, the binomial expansion, the trigonometric identities and the triangle formulae shown above. Differentiation, integration, logarithm laws and the R-formula are not given.

Which syllabus codes are these for?

E-Math 4052 and A-Math 4049, the current Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level mathematics syllabuses. Papers from 2023 and earlier used the previous codes (4048 and 4047) with the same formula lists.
