Mr Alvin Yeo
Alvin Yeo is the founder and principal tutor of The Annexe Project, a Singapore mathematics tuition academy established in 2008. He personally teaches every class — A-Level H2 Mathematics, O-Level Additional and Elementary Mathematics and Lower Secondary Mathematics — live online to small groups. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the National University of Singapore and has coached students for more than 20 years.
How The Annexe Project started
Alvin started The Annexe Project in 2008 after his first five students from St Joseph’s Institution — failing both Additional and Elementary Mathematics — all walked out with A1s at the Cambridge O-Levels. Nearly two decades later he still teaches every mathematics class himself: H2 Mathematics at A-Level, Additional and Elementary Mathematics at O-Level, and the Lower Secondary foundation class.
The academy began as a physical centre at Centropod@Changi and now runs entirely online, so that students anywhere in Singapore — and Cambridge candidates overseas — get the same live, small-group lesson without the commute.

How he teaches
While he might have founded The Annexe Project, Alvin is still heavily invested in personally teaching every student. His popularity comes from a vibrant personality with a surprising youthfulness, which lets him crack a joke to slice through any tedium during lessons. His students feel classes are never too large, because he cultivates a close relationship with each of them.
Spending time individually with Alvin after class — often before a major exam — to clarify doubts and examine mathematics problems clearly is not an opportunity any of his students would find rare in the slightest sense. Free consultations outside class hours have been part of the academy’s culture since 2008, alongside structured notes for every topic, a recording of every lecture and homework reviewed weekly.
